Boxing Ledger's Top Ten Pound-For-Pound Rankings

As of Sunday, April 14, 2013:

Pound-For-Pound rankings were established to determine if a fighter, who is paramount in his weight class, is also superior when compared to other fighters atop their own respective weight divisions. How did I formulate these current rankings? It is comprised of careful observation, analysis and evaluation through the years on four specific criteria.

1) Quality of Opposition - What level of competition has each fighter faced?

2) Performance Level - How did the fighter fare against the various styles he encountered?

3) Age - Did the fighter defeat his opponents while they were in the prime of their careers?

4) Significance of a Loss - If a fighter lost, how did he lose? Was it via decision or knockout? Did he sustain a loss at the hands of high-quality competition? Was he at the peak of his career when he suffered a defeat?

6/11/09 Fights on VERSUS

Charles Huerta Stops Noe Lopez Jr. in 3 Rounds

Round 1: The southpaw Lopez lands a right hook to the head. Huerta hits Lopez with a right cross to the head followed by a right to the body. Huerta jabs. Lopez lands consecutive straight lefts to Huerta's head. Both exchange a barrage of punches.

Round 2: Huerta shoots a straight right. Huerta is pressing the action; Lopez throws his right jab. Lopez gets pushed back from Huerta's jab. Huerta stuns Lopez with a right cross. Huerta is patient as he looks for openings to land his shots. Huerta is throwing combinations and placing his punches well.

Round 3: Huerta drops Lopez with a left hook to the temple. Huerta presses forward and jabs. Lopez takes a knee. Huerta floors Lopez with a right cross to the jaw. Referee stops the fight.

Overall Summary: A very impressive outing from Charles Huerta as he improves his record to 11-0, 7 KO's. Huerta looked solid putting his punches together. He fought better in each round and is an intelligent fighter on the rise in the Featherweight division.

Noe Lopez Jr. suffers the first defeat of his young career and now has a record of 4-1, 3 KO's.

Ricky Lopez Defeats Rufino Serrano By 4 Rd. Unanimous Decision

Round 1: Serrano lands a left hook to the head. Serrano is throwing more punches to start the round. Lopez is shorter than Serrano. Lopez lands a straight right to Serrano's head. Lopez lands a 3-punch combination. Serrano fires back as he is against the ropes. Lopez nails Serrano with a hard right. They go toe-to-toe while against the ropes. Lopez lands 2 left hooks to Serrano's head.

Round 2: Lopez lands a left hook to the body and flurries with Serrano against the ropes. Serrano lands a few clean punches, but misses a left hook. Lopez fires a right cross - left hook combination to the head of Serrano. Lopez lands consecutive right cross punches.

Round 3: Lopez flurries; right to the body followed by a left hook to the head. Serrano is trying to reach with his jab instead of snapping it. Lopez is the harder puncher. Lopez shoots inside and lands a hard right cross to Serrano's head.

Round 4: Lopez places his punches well. Lopez continues to throw his combinations and lands the right cross. Serrano gets tagged with a left hook to the head. Lopez lands a stinging right. Serrano is trying to come forward and is getting hit too often.

Overall Summary: Ricky Lopez found many openings and did damage to Rufino Serrano with his right hand. He dodged Serrano's shots well and showed better fighting instincts. After Lopez landed many of his shots, he was often not in the range of Serrano's counter punches. It was a good action fight. Ricky Lopez fights in the Super Bantamweight division and improves to 4-0, 2 KO's, while Rufino Serrano drops to 1-1, 0 KO's.
