David Rodela Takes A 6 Rd. Split Decision Victory Over Juanito Garcia

Round 1: Rodela presses forward throwing his jab and fires a left hook to the body. Rodela lands a right cross to the head. Garcia lands his jab. Garcia hits Rodela with a left hook to the head.

Round 2: Rodela throws a left hook and a jab. Good exchanges: Garcia lands his shots with Rodela on the ropes. Rodela lands a left hook to the head. The action is picking up. Rodela lands a left uppercut. Garcia fires a jab and right cross to the head. Rodela tags Garcia with a left hook to the body. Garcia counters with a left hook to the head followed by a right cross.

Round 3: Rodela jabs. Garcia is placing his punches well. Garcia hits Rodela with a left hook to the head. Garcia is countering Rodela effectively because his punches are wide. Rodela fires a straight right - left hook combination. Garcia lands a left hook and left uppercut with Rodela on the ropes. Rodela comes forward strong, but is tagged with a right to the body from Garcia. Garcia slips Rodela's punches and sets his feet again. As Rodela is in the corner, Garcia lands a 3 punch combination. Rodela gets stunned by a right as Garcia tries to knock him down, but the bell rings.

Round 4: Garcia throws his jab and presses forward. Garcia is landing the better shots in close range. A right- left hook combination stuns Garcia and he ties Rodela up. Rodela presses forward.

Round 5: Rodela lands a right cross - left hook combination to the head. Garcia throws a combination then moves around the ring. With Rodela in the corner, Garcia lands a right cross. Then, they both exchange right crosses.

Round 6: Both fighters throw jabs. Garcia lands a right cross to the head followed by a right to the body. Rodela comes forward and lands an overhand right. Garcia lands a combination with Rodela against the ropes. Rodela moves. Garcia stuns Rodela with a right cross and then lands a left uppercut. Rodela ties up as Garcia charges forward. Garcia fires and lands a right cross to the head.

Overall Summary: It was a good action fight and the decision could have gone either way. Both of these Junior Lightweight fighters landed good clean punching throughout the fight. Garcia and Rodela had moments where they stunned each other. At times, Rodela was a little wide with his punches and that enabled Garcia to counter him. Rodela threw sharp punches, but Garcia was a strong, durable opponent. Garcia boxed well and threw more combinations in the fight. David Rodela improves to 13-1-2, 6 KO's. Juanito Garcia's record falls to 14-3, 5 KO's. Garcia has lost his last 3 fights.
